Gideon Greene, ATR-BC, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
HE/HIM
Gideon W. Greene graduated from the School of the Art Institute Chicago with a master's in Art Therapy, has an extensive background in community mental health, and 10 years of clinical experience. Gideon draws from social justice, harm reduction, narrative therapy, and cultural relational frameworks. He has experience with adults of all ages and with many common struggles including anxiety, depression, complex family dynamics, relationship dynamics, difficult life transitions, and the effects of chronic illness. He approaches clinical work from a trauma-informed perspective and with the idea that the client is the expert on their own life.
Gideon is trans-identified, and is passionate about working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community. He understands the struggle to find a therapist who can understand one’s community both from professional and personal experience.
As an artist and art therapist Gideon draws from a variety of artistic mediums including sculpture (clay, metal work, found object), drawing (comics), and book arts (collage, pop up books, printmaking). Gideon acknowledges that both art and therapy can be intimidating and his goal is to provide a space where both feel accessible.
In his free time Gideon enjoys spending time with family, hanging out in nature, reading comics, building with LEGO, enjoying art, movies, books, and talking with friends.
